Our founder Laila Fernandez experienced the typical highs and lows of early motherhood. Navigating a new world of contentment and chaos, a new body, and a long list of ‘physical challenges’ to be performed while looking good. As she puts it, “I didn’t fit or feel comfortable in my old clothes or my maternity clothes. As a new mum, I still wanted to look good, but it was impossible to find great designs that were practical to wear while doing all the things new mums have to do”.

Put simply, Laila & Spot is ‘beautiful designs for ugly battles’. Like working your new boobs while hiding your new tummy, looking fresh for unannounced well-wishers during your mid-morning 'cat nap', or painfully breastfeeding in front of a capacity crowd on a tram.

The beauty of these designs is what you don’t see. It’s about what has been cleverly conceived and designed into each item to make life easy as you conquer the wardrobe demons of motherhood. Our aim is to create beautiful designs around functionality that make life easier. Such as:

• Leggings with a soft waist with elastic only at the back. Ensures a good fit without intrusive pressure. Perfect for new mums particularly after a C-section.

• Dresses with concealed breast-feeding access through a 2 way zip with privacy layer underneath for discreet and easy feeding in public.

• Lounge Pants with soft waist and loose-corded elastic for the right fit, perfect for just after baby is born.

• Tunic & T-shirts with discreet feeding through a lift up 'second skin' that provides a flattering look and privacy with no tummy exposure.

• Skirt with soft waist - no elastic, with fabric and design aimed at a really comfy fit.
